This tool calculates the optimized soil-adjusted vegetation index (OSAVI), as first described by Rondeaux, Steven, and Baret (1996) from a near-infrared (NIR) band image and a red band image. The OSAVI is calcualted as follows:
OSAVI is most commonly calculated from multi-spectral satellite imagery to assess the abundance and vigor of vegetation in an area. For Landsat data, the red band is TM3 and the NIR band is TM4. NoData valued grid cells in either of the input images will be assigned NoData values in the output image. The output raster is of the float data type and continuous data scale.
